Mary Jane Hill

Vicki Hill and myself have just retrieved her mothers death certificate. another stepping stone on Vicki's journey to solve the 'puzzle' as she sometimes calls it. She was just a babe when her mother fell victim to the now infamous highway 16. Found March 26, 1978, 23 miles east of Prince Rupert. She cried when she received the certificate, as did i, and after staring at the document in her hand said to me, 'i am sad that none came to get this'. i have known her now for a year and a half. i know that with her mother a piece of Vicki's heart is also gone. but yet there is a glimmer in Vicki's eye, as she starts her climb upward and forward taking positive steps to her journey for closure. although she never had a chance to run to her mother when she fell or needed a shoulder to cry on, she feels her mothers spirit is with her, as does daughter Zoey who sometimes says she sees an angel and tells her mom it looks just like her grandma Mary Jane's picture. Her spirit also lives on through her grandson, Eric, Zoey's brother. so here we have Tony yet another statistic, perhaps one of several not necessarily listed as missing on the highway. a Mrs. Mary Jane Hill, born in the great Nass Valley home of the Nisga'a people at Kincolith BC, deceased on March 26, 1978 outside of Prince Rupert BC. of manslaughter.

We thank you for your website and we thank you for your time and energy. This will mean a lot to Vicki Patricia Hill who is also 31 years old this past September. This has been a big year for her, because this was the age her mom was taken, and she quite often would express to me feelings of fear tied into her own mortality. Vicki now realizes she has to look after her own babies and how much they need her, as well as her quest to 'put her mother to rest' so to speak. She is a strong woman who has taken quite a journey, but she knows as her mothers spirit is with her that her journey has just begun.

Sincerely,

Carrie Riddle and Vicki Hill
