Lana was a great friend to many of us who know her,we all hold out hope that one day we will be able to bring lana back home.
Lana is still to this day in are thoughts.
we miss her very much.

Lana's Aunt Sally had this to say at a conference held in Prince George BC
"We have to keep making noise to the government, to our justice systems, to anybody," Sally Gibson, whose niece has been missing since 1995, told a crowd of more than 500 on Thursday.
"We don't put up any fusses and you find that silence is acceptance. And we can't just accept this. We can't," Gibson said.
Since 1990, nine women have been murdered or disappeared along Highway 16, a remote 720-kilometre stretch of highway between Prince George and Prince Rupert.
Aboriginal groups, community leaders, politicians and police are in Prince George for the two-day conference to examine why women, most of them native, are dying or disappearing in the area and what they can do about it.
Sally Gibson Shares her story about her neice Lana Derrick
with film maker Shareem of Shareem Obaid films.

Lana Derrick is listed as one of the possible victims. Derrick, nineteen, was last seen in Terrace on October 7, 1995 (another report has her last being seen at a Thornhill service station). Her body has never been found and in a suspicious twist her boyfriend committed suicide the very night of her disappearance, leading one to believe it is possible her had something to do with Derrick's vanishing.
A Poem for Lana by her sister Melanie Morton

"Highway Of Tears Survivour"

A young and foolish girl was I

Never followed any rule

I did a lot of stupid stuff

And left my home and school

I had this way of thinking

Hitch-hiking was safe if it was day

So Highway 16 became my life

I was set, I was on My own way

I met a lot of freaks and pervs

Along my endless flights

It wasn't worth the risks I took

To see them "Big City Lights"

That was my life when I was young

I've grown since then, I'm not so Dumb

I have to tell ya women this

Don't live the life of a highway and a thumb

I am a survivor of the "HIGHWAY OF TEARS"

I've seen the danger, lies and tricks

I also am the sister of an angel still gone

Her name,,,,,Lana Derrick

God Be With You My Dear Lana. I Miss You And Love You.
